Debra Childers is a published textbook author, as well as features writer. Debra has
contributed to several editions of the widely adopted college textbook, Basic Marketing, by Drs. Perreault, McCarthy and Cannon. Her passion for teaching and marketing are perfectly
integrated into dynamic videos for college classroom instruction in the U.S. and abroad.
Ms. Childers writes for NFocus magazine, whose mission is to highlight benevolence and charitable achievement in Louisville, KY.
When she isn’t writing, producing, editing marketing materials, or extending her
relationships with media around the world, she works with Life In Abundance raising funds for some of the world’s poorest men, women and children living in thirteen African nations.
I dialed the country code for Kenya at seven am on a blazing hot Tuesday. Dr. Muindi, her mellifluous voice, brushed with an elegant British accent, transported me to the nation of Kenya and into the hearts and spirits of some of Africa’s poorest people. When she spoke, I was

I met the “first lady of Shawnee” on a sweltering Tuesday morning. The elegant and genteel Ruth French, seemingly “wilt free” despite the intense
temperature and humidity, was weeding and gathering tomatoes and squash from the Shawnee community Garden of Principles. The principles articulate seven tenets of Kwanzaa: unity, selfdetermination, collective work and
responsibility, cooperative economics,
